Reaching higher levels of success and accomplishing all that you ever wanted out of life follows a particular method. Much like the “lather, rinse, repeat” for your hair, this 4-step plan can guarantee that you will attain your goals when applied properly. Here is my plan to rise to excellence like never before:
Knowing your outcome
Call it visualization, call it the “law of attraction”, whatever suits you best, but picturing yourself at the end of the line, accomplishing your goal successfully is absolutely necessary if you want to rise above and reach excellence. Everything begins with a thought. Look around you, everything that we use was once a thought in someone’s head. It’s that clear image of it that has given way for it to end up actually existing. I must point out, that a mere thought is just not enough. It’s the start, but it needs more to keep going. For example, most people can easily envision themselves with millions of dollars, but very few people get to that point. Why? Because you have to know deep within you that it is going to happen. No “if’s” or “but’s”. Any doubt will simply hinder your motivation, desire, and drive. Your outcome must be known with 100% conviction. Only at that point will you be truly ready for step #2.

All the visualization in the world will not help you unless you take some form of action. There was a backlash many months after The Secret
Assess your results
Once you take action, you have to carefully examine the feedback that you get from these actions. Success is usually a trial-and-error type of journey. Therefore you need to be aware of what works and especially what doesn’t work so that you can readjust, fix, tweak, and move forward. For example, running a business on the Internet has revolutionized the way we do business. One of the great perks is the sheer amount of data and information that can be gathered from our marketing campaigns, clients, and sales. I know tons of people that run internet businesses that do not pay attention to this data. They are not assessing the results of their actions, and therefore, reaching their goal is extremely difficult. Analyzing the consequences of your actions, whether they be negative of positive, is a crucial step to reach excellence.
Flexibility to change until desired results
In the many different types of businesses I have managed over the years, I have encountered situations where it became smart and even necessary in some cases to alter the direction of the business. Being open to this, is being flexible, which is absolutely important to rise towards true excellence. Being stubborn and unwilling to let go of an old ideology or way of thinking or method or doing things is the best way to ensure yourself a one-way ticket back at the bottom of the ladder. A good business example is how Apple turned their business around by getting into the music business to ensure constant growth and meet their expectations (and those of their shareholders), which ended up being a very smart move. Of course, not everything you will try will work (does Apple TV ring a bell?), but when you are flexible and open-minded, you have the mindset to keep trying until you get the result that you are looking for. The beauty about failure is that every time it happens, you get closer and closer to success. This is why you should never ever give up and keep trying until you get the outcome that you know you are destined to achieve.
