Last month I finished reading the following books and I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you why you should go out of your way to read them:

You: The Owner’s Manual
This is probably one of my favorite books this year.  I was pleasantly surprised as to how easy it was to read and follow the explanations of how the many systems that compose our body work.  It possesses a wealth of information that will definitely change the way that you treat your body.  For example, I got countless nutritional tips from reading this book, and I now understand why my body needs certain foods.  I’ve read tons of other books and countless articles about health and none resonated as profoundly as this book.  I liked the comical nature of the writing, and really enjoyed how they combined the information with RealAge (showing you how many years you can gain in your life).  Seriously, this is a book that everyone should own.

The Greatness Guide
This is a really uplifting book.  There is no groundbreaking information, but with the amount of reading I do, nothing is groundbreaking anymore!  However, what this book does is easily remind you of the information you might already know.  The chapters are quick, and to the point.  That’s a style I like!  The author does a good job of tying in personal events with the lessons in each chapter, and at the end, you get the feeling that you know this person relatively well.  I like it when I can connect with an author on an emotional level, and that’s what happened here.  If you are looking for a motivating, inspiring, no-frills & easy read type of book, get your hands on this one 😉

Taming The Tiger Within
This book is a collection of quotes on how to control anger and direct the energy that anger brings out into a better, more useful direction.  I’ve posted 10 of my favorites from the book in the post 10 Verses To Tame Anger By Thich Nhat Hanh  and it is currently one of the most popular posts on this blog.  This book is truly soothing for the soul, and if you enjoy reading the quotes in that post, you will thoroughly enjoy reading the rest of them in the book.  It will definitely have an impact on people with anger management issues, but even those without those issues will still find the book insightful.  One of my favorite spiritual books thus far.

  1. Loved the website. You should definitely check out the book The Circle by Laura Day. I also review a lot of self-help books.

  3. Great list! I noticed a few of my favorites on there, as well as some new ones I haven’t read yet. One of my recent reads that I’ve found really helpful in making changes and creating a new life for myself is Jill Butler’s Create the Space you Deserve. Reading it motivated me to start clearing years of built up junk both out of my self and my space.
