mandela

Growing up, I was always fascinated by the story of Nelson Mandela.  From being imprisoned for almost 3 decades to being President.  I always wondered what kind of courage it takes for someone to hold onto hope for that many years without ever giving up.  It’s really awe-inspiring and really puts into perspective our complaints of every day life!  Anyways, here are my favorite quotes from this incredible leader:

“A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination.”

“Does anybody really think that they didn’t get what they had because they didn’t have the talent or the strength or the endurance or the commitment?”

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”

“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.”

“Money won’t create success, the freedom to make it will.”

“There is no passion to be found playing small – in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.”

“And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”

“After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb.”

“True reconciliation does not consist in merely forgetting the past.”

“Man’s goodness is a flame that can be hidden but never extinguished.
