I was just going through my old notes and came across this list of sources to become an absolute unstoppable force in sales. If you can master all of them, you are guaranteed to be a true superstar! Here they are:
Great appearance. Whether you sell in person or not, you need to carry yourself like a star and you need to look the part. Looking good makes you feel good, and boosts your self confidence which is crucial in sales.
Pride. You have to love what you do for a living and be proud of it. No shyness or fear of preconceived notions from others if you tell them you work in sales. Having pride in your craft will only make you that much better at it.
Confidence. You have to believe in yourself, period. Know that you can sell anyone, anytime, any place. Sheer confidence comes across and people notice it. If you believe, they will believe in you too.
Wanting to get rich. Yes, that’s correct! Sales is a commission based job. Money is a huge motivator, and to get optimum results, you can’t just want to make “some” money or just enough to get by…if you truly want to achieve incredible results, you need to want to get rich, very rich, period. In control, good mood. Everyone that has worked in sales knows very well that there are good times and bad times. The key is to keep your composure during the difficult times. Keep your good mood, your control, so that you do not show you are struggling while you are selling. Have faith that the sun always shines after a rainy day.
Emotional link to customers. I’ve often heard that emotions sell, not logic. No matter how much it would make sense for your prospect to have your product/service, he/she needs to FEEL like having it. Create an emotional need for your client and you are on your way to selling success.
Don’t take rejections personally. Rejections are part of the game when it comes to sales. Look at it as a step closer to your goal, don’t dwell on it, and move on to the next prospect without even wasting a thought on it. Even the very best salespeople get rejected! They actually get rejected more than anyone, which is also the reason why they sell more than anyone as well.
Continue to learn. A successful salesperson will never think that learning has an end to it. There are always new tricks or new ways to accomplish a sale, and you should keep your eyes and ears open around you to find out all that you can to improve your process. Be a sponge when it comes to information and absorb all that you can so that you can continually improve yourself.
