taking action

If you are stuck in a rut and really have the desire to get out why are you still in a rut? It is very hard to understand sometimes why we cannot take the first steps to get our lives on track. There can be many barriers from obligations that we think we have to fulfill to a bout with depression. If you think you may be depressed a trip to the doctor is in order, but if it is just procrastination then you can break through it and get into the action.

• Get excited about whatever it is you are working on. You need to think back to why you wanted to reach the goal in the first place. Emotion really does create motion and the more enthusiasm you can build for the task at hand, the more work that will get done.

• You may need to start making improvements to your life overall. If you are eating poorly and not exercising you may not have the energy to carry out your goals. It will improve your mental status and focus dramatically if you start putting the right foods in your body and start working out five or six days per week.

• Cut the fat. Not on your body, but from your life. If you are watching more than one hour of television a day you are watching too much. Television and video games are time fillers that can be eliminated for more productive and life affirming activities.

• Enlist the help of a partner. If you make a promise to someone else then you are more likely to follow through. You can make excuses to yourself, but it will be much harder to make them to someone else. A partner can keep you accountable.

  1. Love the Poster!! lol… and that is exactly right. Jump in, get started and get dirty. Don’t plan til you have it perfect, do something real towards your project/goal today.

And I totally agree on the accountability thing. A partner or buddy or coach or a list on the wall, do whatever it takes to make it happen.

Thanks for a simple but important post!

    Cheers
